Video 15: One last post, for now
This video can also be found on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyBFyEqsffc
Today is our last post, hosted by Pat Bowers of New York, in which we wrap up some of the experiences we had and projects we started working on during our trip to Cambodia this past February.
The Face-to-Face AIDS Project works mainly in two countries — Malawi, in sub-Saharan Africa, and Cambodia, in Southeast Asia. Both countries are among the poorest in the world, where most people earn less than a dollar a day, and both countries have been hit hard by HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
We’d LOVE to hear from you – good, bad, critical, encouraging. Write or email us and let us know what you’re thinking. We hope that you’re getting to know the type of work that we do – how we emphasize getting to know individual people and how we listen and record their stories. How we take our time choosing the organizations we want to work with, and how we ensure that the funding we provide is used most effectively and wisely.
Please take a moment to think of how you can help out as well. There are any number of ways in which you can help:
1. Host a Face-to-Face exhibition – we have beautiful photographs and educational exhibits that have traveled to over 30 venues so far. Corporate offices, gallery spaces, schools – all make great places for Face-to-Face. Or, just hold a presentation at your home, and introduce your circle of friends to some wonderful projects.
2. Get in shape and run a marathon! And in the process, raise money for Face-to-Face. We’ll help you set up a website where you can donate online – it’s easy, fun, and an absolutely terrific way to support some great projects.
3. Donate your old laptops, cameras, video cameras. Or donate airplane miles. They all would be incredibly helpful.
4. And last, but not least, know that our projects rely on your generous donations. You are making a big difference in a lot of people’s lives. You’re helping our orphans and vulnerable children, our families in poverty, and our women and men struggling with HIV, all look forward to a brighter, happier future.
Join us again as we report from Malawi in the beginning of May, putting up videos blogs of our terrific projects in that impoverished but beautiful African country.
For now, thank you for joining us. We hope you enjoyed our coffee break posts.
